SHILLONG: Finally waking up to the pathetic condition of the NH-40 over the Umiam concrete dam, the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has begun repairing the road.

Public Relation Officer (PRO) of MeECL, EB Kharmujai, on Thursday said the repair work began on Thursday and will be completed by the first week of November.

Referring to the traffic arrangement during the duration of the repair, the PRO said vehicles will be allowed to ply one-sided only to ensure fast and speedy completion of the work.

Due to the pathetic road condition, vehicular movement on the road over the bridge has been affected for last several months.
