JOWAI: Union Minister for water Resources, Vincent H Pala inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Divine Word School, Lumshnong in East Jaintia Hills on Wednesday.
In his inaugural speech, Pala said, “Educaction is one of the basic needs in the society and governments both in the centre and in the state have spent large amounts of money to improve the educational systems and its infrastrures both in urban and rural area”.
He also lauded the Christian mission for their special focus in Education particularly in the remote area. “Education in the state was started by christian missionaries and several mission schools have been and are setting up that has and will benefit the society”, Pala said.
The head of the school management, Rev. Fr. Anthony Manoj, informed that the school was started with less number of students in 2009.
Pala donated Rs. 5 lacs for the construction of the Presbytery house. Another prominent person of the area, Hopeful Bamon who is also the aspirant candidates for the Assembly Election 2013 has donated Rs. 3 lacs to the Presbytery.
