Indira Gandhi’s death anniversary observed

SHILLONG: The National Students’ Union of India, Meghalaya Unit on Wednesday observed the 28th Death Anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

A legal awareness programme on the rights of students was held at Good Shepherd Higher Secondary School, Jongksha at Mawkynrew.

A tree plantation initiative was also held on the occasion.

The death anniversary was also observed at the Congress Bhawan which was attended by Deborah Ch Marak, president of the Meghalaya Mahila Congress, Ebel M War and a large number of Congress members who paid respect to the late Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, the death anniversary of late Indira Gandhi was observed as the Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas in West Jaintia Hills districts at the DC’s Conference Hall on Wednesday.

District coordinator, Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, Terrence Sawian, and Superintending Engineer, PWD (Roads), Jowai Circle, PR Marwein briefed on the achievement of late Gandhi while District Information Officer, I Rymbai, read out few selected speeches of the former Prime Minister.

A one-minute silence was also observed followed by the National Anthem led by Sawian.
