SHILLONG: The initial post mortem report has indicated that strangulation led to the death of Losber Pyngrope, a victim of land dispute.

The initial report also mentioned that there were bruises on the body of Pyngrope, sources informed on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned, Pyngrope was hit with sticks on his head and other parts of the body by his clan members inside their house. Meanwhile, sources informed that police recovered Rs 20,000 from the possession of the main accused, Speak Pyngrope.

Sources said that the money was allegedly meant to be distributed among the killers by Pyngrope.

Interestingly, the murder case was not only brutal but ‘rare’ as the police were not required to run from pillar to post to establish definite evidence against the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Unlike other cases of murder where police have to work on certain clues to be able to identify and arrest those involved in the crime as well as witnesses of the crime, the Thangbnai murder case was totally different from others.

Police had easy access to information related to Thangbnai murder case since they found the killers near the body of the victim on the day when the incident took place. The perpetrators did not flee away from the scene but remained inside the house along with the body after committing the crime.

Besides Speak, police also arrested Saian Kshiar (75), the father of Speak. Speak’s nephews – Phrangsngi Pyngrope (23), Mong Pyngrope (23), Rojak Pyngrope (22) and Philis Pyngrope (26). The court of judicial magistrate FS Sangma has remanded the alleged murderers in five days police custody.
