Handball, basketball events conclude

SHILLONG: In the ongoing State Level Rural Sports Competition, held at the JN Sports Complex, Polo, the finals of handball and basketball were held on Saturday.

The final for boys’ handball saw Jaintia Hills taking first position by four goals to one against West Khasi Hills.

Third position was bagged by South Garo Hills, who recorded a comprehensive victory over Ri Bhoi, by 18 goals to one.

The girls’ handball title went to West Khasi Hills with a 4-1 victory over Jaintia Hills.

The third-place play-off was an all Garo Hills affair with East Garo Hills grabbing third place with a 11-2 win over West Garo Hills.

In basketball, the boys from West Khasi Hills claimed first spot with a score of 31 points to 18 over East Garo Hills, who had to settle for second place.

In a close battle for third place, East Khasi Hills beat West Garo Hills 33-28.

For the girls, first place went to East Khasi Hills with a score of 16-14 against West Khasi Hills.

Ri Bhoi claimed third position with a 40-10 victory over West Garo Hills.
