Itanagar: State Education Minister Bosiram Siram has urged the next generation to perform multiple roles and actively take on social responsibilities.

At the 15th college day celebration of Donyi Polo Government College in Kamki of West Siang district yesterday, the Minister stressed that the college had shown a good academic trend since its inception.

“There is good scope for college stretching over several hectares of land for future expansion and college girls outnumbering boys is a good sign for our society,” he added.

The government and UGC-regulated various Universities coming up in the state is a step towards having scope for higher learning in the state, he said.

The Minister disclosed that an amount of Rs 39.50 lakh has already been sanctioned for college auditorium, girls hostel fencing, drainage, college library, printing of college magazine, furniture, excursions and modernisation.

Besides, new proposals to the tune of Rs 2.40 lakh from different pool of resources are in the offing, sources said. Speaking on the occasion, MP Takam Sanjay urged the student community to inculcate discipline, duty and hard work to keep pace with the present day technology and competition and uphold the age-old dignity of teacher-student relationship, which is eroding day by day.

He assured to spare Rs 30 lakh for college auditorium from his MPLADs fund as soon as possible, sources added. (UNI)
