JOWAI: Unknown miscreants on Sunday night, allegedly killed a truck driver identified as Ganesh Saikia of Beltola, Assam at the Jaintia Hills Industrial Estate, Khliehtyrshi.
The driver, had come with his truck (AS01AC-2282) to the Industrial Estate for transporting timbers to Assam. He has been transporting timber from here to Assam for the last three years.
On Sunday, the driver had to spent the night at the premises of the Industrial Estate.
Police suspected that a group of four unknown miscreants came to the Industrial Estate and beat up the driver black and blue.
“We strongly suspect that the killers had come to loot the driver and they assaulted him. The assaulted driver was shifted to Jowai Civil Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries,” police said.
Police have registered a murder case and are investigating the matter to nab the culprits.
