SHILLONG: The ANVC cadres, under ceasefire since 2004, have not received their monthly stipend since February.
Informing this on Wednesday, the publicity secretary of the outfit Arist Sangma said over phone from Tura that the delay on the part of the Government to disburse the monthly stipend had affected the morale of the cadres.
A cadre gets Rs 3,000 per month and many ANVC members also have families.
The ANVC leader said the with the festive season approaching, the delay on the part of the Government to release the stipend would bring undue hardships to the cadres and their family members. According to the ANVC leader, the even after meeting the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma last month, there has been no initiative from the Government to release the pending stipend. Sangma also wanted to know if the money was utilized for some other purpose.
‘We had also taken up the matter with the Centre but the reply was that it had already released the stipend for the cadres. The matter was also taken by ANVC with the Government officials recently during the joint monitoring committee meeting held in Shillong.
