SHILLONG: The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ and Employees’ Association (KJDSTEA) on Thursday demanded stringent action against all those who have been named by the CBI in the teachers recruitment scam in the State.

KJDSTEA president ED Nongsiang informed that the Association had held a meeting with the Garo Hills Deficit Teachers’ and Employees’ Association to discuss the scam.

“The Government should punish all those people who are involved in this scam,” he said.

The teachers also expressed their displeasure against the Chief Minister’s decision to probe into the leakage of the CBI report.

Nongsiang also stated that the minister, who has been named in the CBI report, should have stepped down on her own following the disclosure of the report.

Nongsiang also stated that the recruitment system in the State should be revamped as presently only those people who have political affiliations are appointed.
