FILM: Keymon & Nani in Space Adventure

Share post:

Keymon and his friend Rohan go to Goa to

meet their grandmom ‘Nani boss’. The three have fun in Goa until nani gets kidnapped by aliens. Will Rohan and Keymon be able to rescue her?

Nickelodeon’s famous animated character Kemon Ache makes his big screen debut through this film. Kemon is a happy-go-lucky creature with magical powers. He accompanies his good friend Rohan on his vacation to Goa. The two are excited to stay with their entertaining Nani (Usha Uthup) in Goa, until she gets kidnapped by aliens! Nani is taken to an obscure planet which is ruled by an evil dictator Udi Baba. He jails nanis (elderly ladies) as he wishes to eat them later. Can Kemon and Rohan rescue their feisty Nani?

Keymon is a fun watch. From flying trains and a house, whose rooms open to mountains of ice creams, chocolates, Swiss snow and Brazilian jungles…the film offers escapism beautifully. Watching the film makes you feel as if you are reading a lovely story book. It manages to excite the child in you.

Important values like respecting elders, helping those in need, asking for permission before touching someone else’s belongings, etc are also incorporated well in the story, especially for children. Its subtly done so doesn’t sound preachy or childish.

Nani’s character is modelled on popular singer Usha Uthup. It works, considering Usha has sung for the film too. Her character infuses life into the story, thus making the casting look perfect. Animation is good if not first rate. Music is decent and voice-overs ‘cool’ in Keymon’s language. Story moves fast but the pace drops once the trio reaches the alien planet.

Different characters speaking in different regional accents are not too amusing either. You have a female alien speaking in Marathi accent, villain alien speaking in UP accent, flying alien in Punjabi accent. Barring few insignificant dull moments, lead character Keymon is indeed a ‘dude’. (Agencies)
