Bangladeshi infiltrators held

SHILLONG: With the continued nuisance of infiltration activities in the northeastern region, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday apprehended four Bangladeshi illegal immigrants from Hangaria, East Jaintia Hills while they were infiltrating from Bangladesh.

The apprehended illegal immigrants identified as: Islamuddin (18), Sahin Ahmed (22), Momud Rashid (19) and Ishaq Ahmed (30), hailed from Sylhet district of Bangladesh.

During the preliminary questioning, the apprehended Bangladeshi illegal immigrants revealed that they intended to go to the coal quarries of the Khliehriat coal mine areas in East Jaintia Hills.

They also revealed that one Bangladeshi tout, namely Hussain facilitated the cross border movement in lieu of 1500 Bangladesi taka.

It may be mentioned that the BSF troops have apprehended twenty three illegal immigrants from the Meghalaya-Bangladesh border. Adding that the apprehended people were seized of their items have been handed over to the concerned department for further disposal and legal action against them as per law of the land.
