Mamata to name TC candidates

SHILLONG: The Trina-mool Congress has claimed that the party till date has received applications from 136 ticket aspirants to contest 60-seats Meghalaya Assembly polls due in 2013.

A Trinamool functionary informed over phone from Kolkata on Wednesday that the party had asked some leaders and candidates from Meghalaya to come Kolkata to have a meeting with the Trinamool chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on November 24 and 25.

The party official said that a screening committee was carrying out the scrutiny of 136 applications.

He said the names of the candidates and party functionaries would be announced on November 25 by Banerjee.
