SHILLONG: The breakaway faction of Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC-B) on Saturday asked the parent group of the outfit, presently under ceasefire, to join it (ANVC-B) if they are not happy with the ongoing truce process with the Government .

The ANVC, currently under ceasefire, recently said that the Government has been releasing the stipend of the cadres since February this year. Moreover, the Government is yet to address the demands of ANVC.

“The Government is intentionally delaying the peace process and it is clear enough that the State is not serious in solving the ‘Garoland’ issue”, the ANVC (B) said.

According to the ANVC (B), the state Government is to be blamed for the delay in finding out a solution to the demand of ANVC and also for emergence of the GNLA and other groups.

Commenting on an ANVC cadre’s reported nexus with the GNLA, the ANVC(B) said, “the ANVC leaders must own responsibility and claim the arrested cadre instead of isolating him.”

“The ANVC leaders should closely examine the claim of the police on involvement of it’s cadre in the IED planting case. ANVC has its own law to deal with the members who are found guilty. Cadres under truce are to be protected”, the ANVC (B ) said.
