Enterprise Facilitation Centre to benefit villagers: Mukul

DADENGGRE: The Block Development Officer, Selsela C and R D Block, West Garo Hills on Friday inaugurated an Enterprise Facilitation Centre at the Multi Facility Centre Building at Selsela. The event was graced by Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering Dr Sangma reinstated the importance of opening such facility centres. Noting the hardship that the villagers usually encounter as they often have to travel to the main town for small tasks, Dr. Mukul informed the people that such tasks can now be evaded with the functioning of these facility centres in their region.

He informed that sanctions had been made for 4 lakh people for starting the aqua culture mission since it’s initially beginning from the same Selsela Block last year. He said that it is the duty of the government to provide employment for all the needy. Emphasizing on that, Dr Sangma said that educated unemployment youth scheme is also underway.

He further said that along with employment, there should be security against incidences like kidnapping and extortion for all the employed citizens and urged the people to join hands with the government in partnership to irradiate such crimes so as to create a secure environment for growth and development Dr Sangma.

Further on security, Dr Sangma informed that dedicated youth are needed for recruitments in the police departments. Dr. Mukul urged the people to obey and respect the law of the land. He urged the people to be aware of the things happening within their village area and to avail the various schemes that the present government has initiated. Dr. Mukul informed the people that $100 million has been sanctioned for non- governmental schools. Apart from that aspiring teachers should apply for Teachers Diploma scheme of Rs. 5000/- scholarship for two years each.

Furthermore, Dr Sangma in brief informed the people of various ongoing projects such as the sanctioning of Rs. 515 Crore for repairement of road. Six more Border Haats to open shortly. Also, more surveys are being conducted for expanding the railway tracks. Even the drivers, can now avail for insurance for accidental incidence where the widow or a relative can receive Rs. 4 lakh in case of untimely death of the person employed as a driver.

Earlier in the day, Clement R Marak, Co- Chairman, State Planning Board informed the people that the purpose for organizing such programmes is to bring awareness to the locals of the various schemes initiated by the government. SMarak also informed that soon a youth centre will be opened for learning musical instruments. Marak informed the people that Rs. 3 Crore and 53 Lakh has been sanctioned as Irrigation schemes.

Also at the function Widow and Disability scheme certificate along with Rs. 500/- was distributed. Prior to the initial inauguration of the Enterprise Facility Centre, the Chief Minister Dr Mukul inaugurated the 2km NRAGO black topping towards Nengalpara.
