Manipur tourism fest

Imphal: Adventure tourism, international polo events continue to attract hundreds of visitors everyday at the tourism festival known as Manipur Sangai Festival, 2012.

Four international teams, England, France, Germany and Thailand, are participating in the polo tournament organised by Manipur Horse and Polo association.

Organising Secretary of the Polo tournament N Bedajeet said the semifinal matches will be played on November 28 and the final on November 29.

The qualifying teams will be announced after the end of two matches to be played later today at Imphal polo ground, the oldest living polo ground in the world.

Under the aegis of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association, about 50 people are now undertaking trekking activities and the team which left Imphal on November 21 last may reach the highest peak of Manipur Mt Iso and Dzuko valley on Tuesday.

According to the organisers, the MMTA has also constructed a mini adventure complex at the main venue of the festival at Hapta Kangjeibung. Spider net crossing, boating in artificial pool by real raft, rope bridge, artificial bouldering climbing, repelling, water zorbing, land zorbing and Sumo zorbing fight attract lots of children. The festival will conclude on November 30. Special security arrangements have been made up in all the venues. (UNI)
