Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Wednesdaysaid the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh at the Centre is the ‘number one enemy’ of youths because it was not filling vacant posts and has stopped new employments.

Sarkar told a rally by Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) state unit that the Central government had also sent directives to Tripura government for not filling the posts but the government did not pay heed to it.

“Throwing away the directive of the Central government we have filled up all the vacant posts and also created some more new posts for creating employment opportunities for the unemployed people”, he said.

Sarkar, also Politburo member, said the number of unemployed youths was now 20 crore which is equal to the population of Europe and altogether about 20 lakh posts were vacant but the government did not fill these.

He alleged that at least 2.77 lakh farmers have committed suicide in the last 11 years in the country due to wrong economic policy of the Central government and the Congress party must take this responsibility.

“When Pranab Mukherjee was Union Finance Minister he assured the Parliament that FDI would not be allowed without discussion on the floor of the house. But the UPA government was now trying to introduce it by an administrative order,” he claimed. (PTI)
