Motorist dead

The driver of a loaded truck overtook another vehicle which led to an accident in Nakham Bazaar area of Tura, resulting in the death of a scooterist on Thursday evening. The truck hit a scooterist, Badal Malik (48 M) and the tyres of the vehicle ran over him and the two wheeler causing extensive internal injuries. He was rushed to Tura civil hospital but died from his wounds. The driver of the truck fled from the scene and is yet to be located.

One person sustained injuries when a Maruti Van (MLO5J – 0986) overturned at a turning when the driver lost control of the vehicle, on Friday afternoon. The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based at Sohra helped shift one Omar Mondal (40 M) to Woodland Hospital, Shillong.

A driver of an auto rickshaw sustained injuries when he lost control of the vehicle, and went off road near the Governor’s House at 8th Mile, Garobadha Road under Selsella Block, West Garo Hills. The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based at Tura helped in shifting the driver, one Parimal Sangma (28 M) to Tura Civil Hospital, on Thursday at night.

One Vicky Kharpran (32 M), sustained injuries after he fell of his motorbike, when it skidded at 20th Mile Byrnihat, Umling Block, Ri Bhoi District on Thursday night. The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based at Byrnihat helped in shifting the injured to Nongpoh Civil and then to Woodland Hospital, Shillong.

A driver and a co-passenger sustained injuries, when the Maruti they were travelling in met with a head on collision with a truck, coming from the opposite direction. The incident happened near the P.W.D office at Amlarem, West Jaintia Hills on Thursday evening. The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based at Nongtalang helped in shifting one Forest Marak (30 M) and one Sengbat Sangma (30 M) to Jowai Civil Hospital and then to Shillong Civil Hospital.
