Potential candidate threatened

SHILLONG: West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has served a notice to eight people from Wahiajer for threatening to obstruct a potential candidate who was keen to contest the upcoming Assembly election from Nartiang constituency. The eight people who have been served with the notice are Me Shylla, Stil Phawa, Ebormi Dkhar, Solomon Lyngdoh, Chidalang Lamare, Trilin Tariang, Sirin Pyrtuh and Mary Talang.

According to the notice, the Deputy Commissioner has stated that a complaint has been lodged against the eight people for forcefully entering the house and threatening his family. The Deputy Commissioner has also directed that they should reply to the notice which has been served to them within seven days otherwise they would be booked under various provisions of the law.
