SMB urged to take steps for garbage disposal

SHILLONG: The Lympung Ki Hynriew Shnong (LKHS), on Tuesday asked the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) to adopt an action plan to stop the dumping of garbage at the Motphran area, while demanding the engagement of sweepers for regular cleaning of the same.

The Lympung comprising of six localities-Mawkhar, Wahingdoh, Riatsamthiah, Umsohsun, Mission Compound and Wahthapbru, apprised the chief executive officer of SMB on this issue while demanding an immediate intervention on his side.

Further elaborating on the pathetic condition of Motphran area, LKHS president Drowning Dkhar said that the intolerant stench emitted out of the non-stop spill over of toilet water; from the existing public latrines have caused a health hazard to the pedestrians who have no alternative but to pass through the area.

“We urged the SMB to take necessary steps to stop the leakage of toilet water from the existing public toilets”, Dkhar added.
