SHILLONG: The Congress legislator Sayeedullah Nongrum on Friday reiterated that there was no question of leaving the party.

In response to news reports that he was ready to contest as Independent if the party denies ticket to him, the legislator from Rajabala said that there was no question of threatening anyone to contest as independent candidate.

“As for the party ticket, I have duly applied and anticipate that I would be awarded the same. I have faith in the wisdom of the High Command that they will reason with me whatsoever the case may be with regard to allotting party ticket”, Nongrum said in a statement issued here on Friday.

Nongrum said in his reply to a query on Thursday that there was a “rumour floated by my good friends that I would float a new party and contest the upcoming elections. But my reply was that there was no question of going against the party which has been with me through thick and thin”.
