NEW DELHI: The likely suspension of operations at Meghalaya’s lone airport in Umroi from January 1 was raised in Rajya Sabha on Thursday by Thomas Sangma, the lone Member from the State. Sangma also demanded that the Baljek airport be made functional at the earliest. “Suspension of flights from Umroi will cause immense hardship to people and also affect the economy and tourism (in Meghalaya),” Sangma said.
