Arunachal CM asks Khampti youths to prserve age-old culture

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has exhorted the youths of the Khampti community to zealously preserve their age-old culture for posterity and appealed them to give up any form of addiction.

“I congratulate the Tai-Khampti community for preserving their age-old culture despite invasion of modernity,” the chief minister said while inaugurating the Poi Pee Mau festival of the community at Namsai in Lohit district yesterday, official sources said here today.

He said, the community was blessed with vast fertile cultivation land facilitating bumper production of horticulture and agriculture produces. Under the Chief Minister Mechanization Programme (CMMP) the farmer could avail tractors, power tiller, and irrigation facilites to modernize the farming sector.

“With upcoming of Trans Arunachal Highway, bridges at Bogibill, Sadiya and Alubari the region has better future towards prosperity”, Tuki said.

The CM also dwelt on tremendous scope of developing cultural, religion, adventure and eco –tourism in the district following the presence of Parsuram Kund, Golden Pagoda along with rich culture of Tai and Mishmi and of course good road connectivity.

He further assured the community to create Lower Lohit district provided “if found appropriate after due cabinet consent.”

The New Year festival is celebrated by the Tai-Khamptis to showcase their rich culture and traditions to the world. (UNI)
