Over 150 youths shortlisted in Job Fair in city

SHILLONG: Over 150 youths of the State were shortlisted for various jobs by 14 reputed companies on the first day of the two-day Job Fair which was inaugurated by Chief Secretary WMS Pariat.

The Job Fair organized by the Meghalaya Information Technology Society (MITS), IT Department, is an important step towards implementing the vision of Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma in the ‘Year of the Youth’ (2012-2013).

The Job Fair was attended by over 350 youths from across the State.

ETPL India, a leading company in employable skills area in North East India in partnership with MITS is conducting the Job Fair.

Addressing the youth, Pariat inspired students to attend such training courses and become an asset to the State. Member Secretary DP Wahlang emphasized the youth to have an open mind and be willing to work outside the State for gaining work experience and come back with new ideas for the benefit of Meghalaya.

The employable skill programme initiated by MITS won the e-North East Award in the Education and training category, 2012.

Symantec Corporation also recognized and honored the State with the Visionary Award for the year 2012-13.

The participating companies included Chillibreeze, Anjaybee, EMRI, AXIS Bank, HDFC Bank, HDFC Life, SS NETCOM, ICICI Lombard, GENPACT, EXL, Reliance Life Insurance, Future Group, SYMANTEC, ETPL India.
