SHILLONG: The body of GNLA cadre killed in the clash between GNLA and ANVC (B) militants went ‘missing’ and the male members of the village, where the incident took place, ‘disappeared ‘ after the police arrived at the place of occurrence on Saturday.

The police team arrived to take the body of the cadre for post-mortem, but in vain.

The clash between the group of GNLA and ANVC (B) occurred at Rongtok village near Simsang river bordering West Khasi Hills and South Garo Hills District on December 20.

While one GNLA cadre was killed during the gun battle, two others sustained injured.

“However, when the police team arrived at the spot, they could not get the body and moreover, the male members of the village were also not present,” West Khasi Hills SP, R. Muthu said.

According to the SP, no one in the village was there to answer the questions and also to speak about the incident.

“It appears that the GNLA cadres took away the body of the militant,” Muthu added.

Police suspect that it was out of fear that the villagers did not want to make any comment about the incident.
