NREGS scam:Complaints against VECs

 SHILLONG: The BDO of Resubelpara MD Arengh recently lodged a complaint against former secretaries of various VEC under North Garo Hills for misappropriating the funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

In his complaint against the ex-secretary of Omorpur VEC (NGH) Senit Sangma, Arengh stated that a total of Rs 1, 93, 600 has been misappropriated.

Another complaint was lodged with the Bajengdoba PS against ex-Secretary of Getapara VEC (NGH) Donitson Momin for misappropriating funds amounting to Rs. 71,200 and ex-Secretary of Moamari VEC (NGH) Bringing Marak for siphoning off an amount of Rs 80,070.

The Resubelpara BDO also filed an FIR against the ex-Secretary of Dengnanggre VEC (NGH) Ether Marak for misappropriating Rs 13,750 under NREGS scheme.

Misappropriation of funds by members of the VECs is not a new thing as the same has been witnessed on several occasions all over the State, some of which were subjected to punishments.
