SHILLONG: The United Democratic Party (UDP) will announce the final lost of candidates in a week’s time.
Informing this here on Saturday, the party’s working president Bindo M Lanong said that the state election committee of the UDP will meet next week to finalise the remaining candidates.
“There are some places which need proper examinations to prevent any untoward rivalry amongst the party members,” he said.
“The delay in releasing the names of the remaining candidates is drawn to the fact that we are examining the candidates of such places in a proper way,” Lanong said.
When asked about the number of candidates, the UDP is going to field, Lanong replied, “I can’t say anything at the moment”.
Till date the UDP has announced 44 candidates.
