Mass resignation after denial of party ticket

SHILLONG: The members of the Kharkutta Block Congress Committee, North Garo Hills on Monday submitted their mass resignations en-masse after the denial of the party ticket to one of the block delegate, Rupert Momin.
Disappointed over the allotment of ticket to a non-party candidate, Cherak W Momin to contest the General Assembly Elections from Kharkutta North Garo Hills District, secretary of the Kharkutta Block Congress Committee Hogendro Sangma said that this was done in the garb of the much hyped win-ability factor while expressing shock at the widening trust deficit between the State leadership and the common man.
“There is growing nepotism and favoritism eating into the vital of the state politics, in Garo Hills in particular, as manifested the allotment of ticket to a non-party man”, Sangma said. Also adding that they are shocked over the denial of party ticket to Rupert Momin, inspite of having been responsible for reviving the party in Kharkutta after the debacle it suffered in the 2008 election.
In protest against the arbitrary decisions of the High Command, the office-bearers and the party functionaries together with those manning the Frontal wings under the aegis of the Kharkutta BCC on Monday submitted our mass resignations en masse from the Primary Membership of the Indian National Congress.
