SHILLONG: Thousands of people led by former Education Minister Chemberlin M Sangma, GHADC Deputy CEM Brigady N Marak and MPCC representative Jogonsing Sangma decided to nominate Brigady N Marak to contest against the Congress’ official candidate Adolf Lu Hitler R Marak in the upcoming election after Brigady was earlier denied the Congress ticket from Bajengdoba constituency.
Brigady’s supporters, who gathered at the Bajengdoba playground, protested against the Congress for giving away the party ticket to Adolf Lu Hitler R Marak.
The people of Bajengdoba cited the selection of the party candidate as nothing but nepotism since it did not have the consent of the Block Congress Committee (BCC) and the people of the constituency.
These voters opined that the candidate should be selected on the needs and necessities of grassroots level and not on the whims and fancies of the party high command.
Recently after the Congress declared its list of candidates, all the office bearers, party functionaries, workers and supporters of the Bajengdoba BCC and 35 polling booth units including the Bajengdoba Mahila Unit and the Bajengdoba Youth Congress Committee resigned enmasse and dissolved the BCC.
