GOC 3 Corps Gen greets NE people on Army Day

Kohima: Lt Gen A K Sahni, GOC 3 Corps, near Dimapur, has greeted all ranks of Army, ex-servicemen, civilians and their families on the occasion of Army Day on Tuesday.

In a defence release, Gen Sahni said Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year to mark the historic moment when Lt Gen (later Field Marshali) K M Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief in the Indian Army in 1949.

He said that Tuesday is a special day on which all ranks of Army should feel proud of being a soldier of this great and glorious Indian Army. He said all ranks of Spear Corps ( 3 Corps) have been working together with the local civil administration and the people of the land to bring in greater growth and prosperity in the North Eastern Region while expressing his deep appreciation to the dedicated efforts of each soldier towards this noble cause and the cooperation extended by the civil population.

He said that the Army has been a source of inspiration and has contributed to development of the society in a number of ways and the Army’s efforts to undertake infrastructure developmental projects, motivate school children, recruit jawans, conduct vocational training, provide medical and veterinary services at remote locations and also to empower women has made a significant difference in the overall growth of the region.

“I salute the brave soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice in the performance of their duty,” the General said in his greetings. (UNI)
