SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC have announced that Taisuke Matsugae, a footballer from Japan, is on a two-week trial with the North-Eastern I-League club.

The 30-year-old striker has been training with the Lajong squad, but no final decision has been taken as to whether the J-League footballer will be signed by the club as their fourth foreign player.

Matsugae, who previously played in Japan’s J-League for JEF United Ichihara, departed with the squad on Thursday ahead of their I-League encounter against Pailan Arrows on Sunday in Kolkata and will be expected to play up front, should he be deemed fit to play for the club.
