SHILLONG: Four matches were held on Tuesday in the

U-14 Football Tournament 2013, with Ryntih the biggest winners, coming through 6-0 against Nongkseh.

The first encounter between Risa Colony SC and Lawmali Pyllun SC was a keen fight where both teams tried to gain supremacy over the other but with little success.

Risa Colony appeared to be the better of the two but Lawmali did not allow them to control the game, which led to the barren first half.

Starting the second session, Risa Colony scored in the 45th minute through Bympher Lyndem and continued with the 1-0 lead until the end of the match to earn three full points.

The second match of the day between Marbisu SC and Mawkhar SC saw Marbisu pump in three goals in a short span during the first half in the ninth, 14th and 19th minutes through a brace by Wanshanbok Kurbah and one from Abedniko Kurbah.

Although Mawkhar played well all through the match, their forwards could not make any inroads into the Marbisu citadel.

Mawkhar missed a penalty in the first half but came back strongly in the second session and had some fair trials at the goal but could not convert any and were defeated 3-0.

Ryntih and Nongkseh played the third match of the day and Ryntih opened the scoring in the 27th minute and thereafter made the match a one-sided affair.

Vianni Pathaw was the first scorer and was immediately followed by Zeno W Kahil two minutes later before the teams went for a breather. The second session was a cakewalk for Ryntih as they pumped in four more goals to make it 6-0. The goals were scored in the 33rd, 40th, 44th, and 58th minutes of the second half.

The last match saw Nongrah put up a brave fight against Royal Wahingdoh. The match was a keenly contested one even if it ended 3-0 for Royal.

With Nongrah trying their heart out, the first half was barren for both sides. It wasn’t until the 37th minute that Royal got a chance to score through a penalty and Melvin Marbaniang did not make any mistake to score for his team.

Thereafter Royal increased the pressure and broke through in the 53rd and 58th minutes to seal the match in their favour.

There will be four matches on Wednesday with Pohkseh facing Lummawbah at 10:00am in the first game. Mylliem will then go up against Shillong Lajong at 11:00am. That match will be followed by clashes between Umpling and Riatsamthiah at 12:45pm and Umlyngka and MLP at 2:15pm.
