SHILLONG: Continuing its attack, the BJP on Wednesday slammed the Congress-led Government in the State for its failure in tackling corruption.

Talking to media persons here after releasing the party manifesto on Wednesday, BJP leader and former MP from Arunachal, Kiren Rijiju, took strong note of the recent CBI report on the scam in recruitment of teachers and slammed the Government for failing to take any action in this regard.

“Corruption is a universal phenomenon in Meghalaya,” Rijiju told reporters.

Expressing concern over the power shortage in the State, he said that Meghalaya continues to remain power starved despite the fact that the State has tremendous potential for generating power.

“The State lacks an efficient and friendly Government,” he added.

Asking the Congress to explain the current situation in the State, Rijiju said that the Congress does not have the moral authority to make any promise in their manifesto. The BJP leader also mentioned that inflation in the country has become a serious problem for the common man as the Congress Government has hiked the prices of LPG and other petroleum products much to the agony of the people.

Stating that the country’s production in LPG is quite high and the price should be minimal, the BJP leader said, “If we form the Government at the Centre, we will make LPG available at cheaper rates.”
