Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher, who is riding on the success of his latest release ‘Special 26’, says he has no plans to retire from acting and will keep working for another 30 years.

“It’s easy in this profession to call actors thespians and legends which means it is time for you to retire. But I am not going to retire. I will work for another 30 years. I think somewhere someone like Neeraj Pandey, Dibakar Banerjee will keep coming and I will keep reinventing myself,” Kher said in a group interview here.

“And today the kind of scripts that are written are phenomenal. It’s wonderful to be working with new directors.. they have so much of energy,” he said.

Kher, 57, is one actor who has never shied away from working with newcomers. He has been part of directorial debuts like Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and A Wednesday among others. “I have loved working with first time directors be it Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Neeraj Pandey, Ayan Mukherjee… I think any director who makes a film for the first time brings a lot of passion,” he said.

“And it is wonderful to get infected by that passion as that brings out the new me. I love to work with them. They have so much of hunger and the kind of perspective they have is great,” he added. Also, Kher is someone who has worked across all genres of cinema. “I think mindless comedies are part of my professional life… my journey wouldn’t have been complete if I wouldn’t have done them. I never said I will do only intelligent cinema. For me working every day is important.”

I don’t say that I will do only certain kind of films or roles, then, in that case I would have done fewer films and wouldn’t have had this body of work,” he said. “There are road blocks in every journey. For me the journey is more important than destination,” he added.

Happy with the response to his conman act in Special 26, Kher expressed his desire to have a sequel to the heist drama. (IANS)

“We are enjoying the success of the film. We are happy that the audience have loved it and are watching the film again and again. It is great moment for us. I would want him (Neeraj) to write a sequel as we (characters) have not been killed or died,” he said. (PTI)
