SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has ridiculed BJP leader Kiren Rijiju for his statement that “Congress is using underground militants to win the elections.”

“A person who does not have any knowledge about the ground reality came up with this kind of statement. This is really pathetic. This only reflects his bankruptcy of issues,” Dr Sangma told newsmen after an election rally at Mairang on Thursday.

The Chief Minister said that he would have been happy if these people come and try to familiarize with the ground reality in the context of Meghalaya as well as Garo Hills.

He said the party has already made its intention clear in its manifesto as far as problem of insurgency is concerned.

“Therefore, he (Rijiju) should read it properly. He should be able to interpret what we actually mean in the manifesto,” Chief Minister added.

Earlier, BJP leader had stated that he had received inputs from people that the militants are resorting to unfair means in support of Congress candidates.
