Director Anand Kumar is back with some hard-hitting action with masala potboiler Zila Ghaziabad and its album has five original tracks composed by the duo of Amjad-Nadeem and a guest composition by Bappa Lahiri. Shabbir Ahmed has penned the lyrics.

The soundtrack kicks off with Zila Ghaziabad, the title track, which is in sync with the theme of the movie. It is crooned by Sukhvinder Singh, whose powerful vocals do full justice to the composition. Along with some good desi beats, the lyrics also play an important part in providing a good start to the album.

It is followed by a duet by Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam and Ranjha jogi makes you fall head over heels in love with the duo’s magical voices. The tune and the words are extremely comforting to the ear. Instruments like the tabla and the harmonium have been used well by the composers. This is without doubt the finest track in the album. It’s time to disco with item song “Baap ka maal”. It gets you in the mood to shake a leg. The song has a funny title and it brings together the item team of Mamta Sharma, Mika Singh and Sukhvinder Singh. The tongue in cheek words with some tub-thumping beats turn the track into a winner. The ratings of this one will surely soar in the musical charts.

It also has a remix version called “Baap ka maal rock again”, which has some added energy and beats that would click with the clubbing fraternity.

It is followed by Tu hai rab mera, a revised sort of version of a song from the director’s previous film Jugaad.

While its predecessor had elements of Indian classical music, this one to some extent follows a more contemporary course. Crooned by Tulsi Kumar and Mohit Chauhan, it’s a melodious song and deserves cheers from the listener. Rounding up the album is a guest composition by Bappa.

Titled Chhamiya No.1, it is definitely not the best track here, although Sunidhi tries hard to impress and has got good support in Shadab Sabri. But overall, it still falls flat and fails to stir one’s emotions.

However, the overall view for Zila Ghaziabad soundtrack is optimistic as most of the songs are based around the premise of the film. (IANS)
