255 companies of forces deployed for Nagaland polls

Kohima: A total of 255 companies of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) have been deployed for smooth conduct of the February 23 Nagaland Assembly elections.

Deputy Chief Election Commissioner Sudhir Tripathi told PTI in the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, J. Alam that a total 255 companies of CAPF have been deployed to ensure cent per cent coverage of 2023 polling stations spread over the State.

This is unprecedented deployment of the central forces as compared to the 168 companies deployed for the conduct of 2008 Assembly elections.

A rise of 87 companies in this hustings. Tripathi also revealed that none of the local police would be deployed in the polling stations but they will be utilized as additionality. Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, Alam said that 174 polling parties left for their stations Friday while another 1849 was deployed on Friday which also consist a total of 76 all women polling parties.

The state has 2023 polling stations, out of which 759 have been identified as hyper sensitive, 698 as sensitive and 566 as normal. (PTI)
