NONGSTOIN: Out of the five Assembly constituencies in West Khasi Hills, the HSPDP emerged victorious in three while two went to the UDP.
The grand old man of Meghalaya politics Hoping Stone Lyngdoh emerged winner once again in Nongstoin defeating his closest rival and protégé Dr Advisor Pariong of the Congress by a margin of 2456 votes.
Meanwhile, sitting UDP MLA from 30- Mairang AC, Metbah Lyngdoh of retained his seat defeating his nearest rival Dr Eureka FP Lyngdoh (INC) by a margin of 1616 votes. Metbah secured 13726 votes.
In Mawthadraishan, Brolding Nongsiej defeated his nearest rival Dr Fenella Lyngdoh Nonglait by a margin of 424 votes. Brolding secured 7786 votes. Irin Lyngdoh (IND) secured 5408 votes while Boldness
Nongum (INC) got 5395 votes.
In Rambrai- Jyrngam AC, HSPDP candidate K P Pangniang defeated Kimfa Sidney Marbaniang (IND) by 1869 votes. While Pangniang secured 7625 votes, Kimfa secured 5756 votes. Dr Jova Marak (UDP) bagged 4236 votes.
In Mawshynrut, HSPDP candidate Witting Mawsor defeated Methodius Dkhar (INC) by a margin of 2403 votes. Witting Mawsor secured 6778 votes. Pelcy Snaitang (IND) got 1870 votes.
The district also proved to be a major upset for the four doctors — Dr Eureka F P Lyngdoh (INC) from Mairang, Dr Fenella Lyngdoh Nonglait (HSPDP) from Mawthadraishan, Dr Adviser Pariong (INC) from Nongstoin and Dr Jova Marak (UDP) from Rambrai- Jyrngam — who contested.
In Mawkyrwat, which is under the newly formed South West Khasi Hills District, the INC bagged both the prestigious 35-Ranikor and 36-Mawkyrwat constituencies.
Stalwart Rowell Lyngdoh (INC), who is also a sitting MLA of Mawkyrwat edged his nearest rival Hadrian Lyngdoh (IND) by a margin of 974 votes. While Rowell Lyngdoh polled 6024 votes, Hadrian polled 5050.
The sitting MLA of 35-Ranikor and Congress candidate Martin.M.Danggo defeated his nearest rival Probin K.Raswai UDP by a margin of 455 votes only.
