National painting camp underway

SHILLONG: The 5-day national painting camp organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi (National Academy of Fine Art), New Delhi was inaugurated by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal at Hotel Polo Towers here on Friday.

This academy, which is a premier fine art institution of the Government of India to promote, spread and develop Indian fine art culture, saw the participation of artists from across the north eastern region. Addressing the gathering, Goyal stressed on the need for cooperation and support of the local artists and government to promote fine arts.
