SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that the Government would try its best to see its promises of providing two additional subsidised LPG being achieved.
“All that has been reflected in the manifesto has been based on an analysis as to whether we actually have the resources and to implement them. Whatever is there, we intend to implement them in letter and spirit,” Dr Sangma said while talking to newsmen after the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister however informed that they were in the final stages of negotiations with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for assessing additional funds to invest for education which includes up scaling of the infrastructures in educational institutions at the secondary, higher secondary and higher education levels including the health sector.
“These two sectors are being focused in a manner which will see a huge amount of investment,” Dr Sangma said.
According to him, the Government has certain agendas which are people-centric even as they are carrying them forward is such a gigantic task.
“You have seen certain programmes which were launched in December in regard to ensuring sustainable quality health care i.e. health insurance to cover all the population. And further expand the assistance to the old, infirm and widows and differently abled people” he said while adding that addressing the infrastructural gaps and improving the service sector – education, health, tourism and other related activities based on human and natural resources.
When asked if the Government is considering the setting up Fast Tract Courts in the district headquarters, he said that these were part of the commitment of this Government. “We would keep this among our top priorities,” the Chief Minister said.
