SHILLONG: The tussle in the Congress party no longer remains restricted to the leadership issue or allotment of Cabinet berths since the party legislators have found one new issue to engage in a tussle, as was evident on Wednesday when two sitting Congress legislators embroiled themselves in a tussle over allotment of a Government bungalow.
According to sources, Congress legislators – Rowell Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat) and MM Danggo (Ranikor) – are engaged in a tussle over the occupancy of the Brightwell Bungalow located at Barik point in the city.
The bungalow was recently vacated by former Deputy Chief Minister Bindo Mathew Lanong (UDP) after he lost the recent Assembly election to Ampareen Lyngdoh (Congress).
Sources informed that the General Administration Department (GAD) is in dilemma on who should occupy the bungalow. HDR Lyngdoh has just taken over charge of the GAD.
Also on Wednesday, many sitting legislators from Jaintia Hills and Garo Hills met the GAD Minister seeking official accommodations in Government bungalows spread across the city.
