Agartala: The long cherished dream of having a separate High Court for the state is now becoming a reality as March 26 has been chosen for official inauguration of the Tripura High Court.
Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar will inaugurate the new High Court while Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Altamas Kabir, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel will remain present in the inaugural function.
Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice Deepak Gupta will be taking oath as Chief-Justice of Tripura High Court on March 23. Governor DY Patil will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the Chief Justice.
State Law Secretary Datamohan Jamatia on Wednesday said he has received a statement regarding the programme of the Oath taking ceremony of the Chief Justice.
But there were some differences between the State and Central authority on the number of Judges for the Tripura High Court, as State was demanding for at least five judges and but it was finally decided to be maximum of four judges.
Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Adarsh Kumar Goel will be present on the oath taking ceremony on 23rd of March.
