NIFT students protest fee hike

SHILLONG: Students of the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) here hit the streets along with their counterparts from from other centres hit the streets on Thursday, opposing the ‘unexpected’ fee hike in all the 15 NIFT centers in the country.

Taking strong note of the hike, students of NIFT,Shillong demanded immediate revision of the fee structure.

According to students, the revised fee structure is compelling certain batches to pay upto Rs 30,000 extra annually.

The students said while demanding for an external audit to be carried out in the administrative section of NIFT Shillong. Approximately 300-400 students from NIFT, Shillong have joined the strike.
