SHILLONG: The Urban Affairs Minister, Ampareen Lyngoh on Tuesday urged the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi to ensure that the commercial complex at Nongpoh was inaugurated at the earliest.
The statement came from the Minister during an informal meeting with Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Akashdeep at Nongpoh on Saturday.
The construction work of the building has been completed and it will be a boost to the economy for the people of Nongpoh and other areas.
With the Shopping Complex, the Urban Affairs Minister is of the view that the market needs and day-to-day shopping requirements of the people of Nongpoh will be served through this organized shopping centre.
It is learnt that the Government will form a committee to review the application forms of the interested parties who would like to open a shop there.
It is expected that if everything goes well, the project can be inaugurated in 2 to 3 months time.
There are provisions for the setting up of more than 200 shops in the state of the art commercial complex.
