‘Girl sexually assaulted, killed at 12th mile’

SHILLONG: The State police on Friday recovered the body of a girl at 12th Mile area in Ri-Bhoi district. Sources said that the body was found in a semi naked state in a forest, 500 metres from the national highway. “The girl was sexually assaulted and strangulated to death,” sources said. The Police have already started its investigation into the matter and the body has been sent for autopsy. The girl is believed to be a resident of West Garo Hills and efforts are on to verify her identity. “The Police have got some clues and hoping to make a breakthrough into the case soon,” sources said.
