SWGH rape accused still at large

SHILLONG: A labourer, Rapal Hajong (22), who allegedly raped a five-and-a-half-year-old girl on Thursday night last at Boiragipara village under Garobadha near Ampati in South West Garo Hills, is still at large.

The incident occurred at a time when the State Government is under fire over its handling of the Williamnagar gang-rape case.

According to police, the accused, a neighbor of the victim absconded after the rape of the minor in South West Garo Hills. The victim was admitted to Tura Civil Hospital.

The accused Hajong is known to the victim and it was the girl who told the

relatives about the incident following which they lodged a complaint.
