Lajong’s next home match to be played under lights

SHILLONG: I-League action returns to Shillong, when Shillong Lajong FC host ONGC on Sunday, April 7, in a match that will be played under the newly-installed floodlights at the JN Stadium, Polo.

Following the success of the recently held Dr T Ao Memorial Football Tournament at the ground, where half of the matches were played under lights, Sunday’s game will mark the first time that Lajong will play an evening fixture on home turf.

The match is scheduled to start at 5pm.

Portuguese sensation Edinho Junior, who is on loan from Blackburn Rovers, will be making his much awaited home game debut on Sunday.

The 18-year-old striker produced a memorable debut performance by scoring a brace against an in-form Pune FC on March 24 in Pune and will look to leave a mark at home too.

Besides the match against ONGC, Shillong Lajong only have one other home game – against Mumbai FC on April 14 – as they hope to garner as many points as possible to remain out of the relegation zone.

Their last two matches are away at Prayag United and East Bengal.

Tickets for Sunday’s match will be on sale from Thursday in the range of Rs 80-300.
