SHILLONG: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Clement Marak was cornered by UDP legislator Paul Lyngdoh over the status of the computerization of the Public Distribution System. Lyngdoh was unhappy with the lack of clarity in the reply of Marak on the issue during the Question Hour.

Lyngdoh expressed his surprise that the Minister at one hand stated that the phase I of the computerization of the PDS is making a good progress while at the same time, he (Marak) said that funds for the same has not been sanctioned. Later, Food and Civil Supplies Minister clarified that Rs 30 lakh was released in advance pending the sanctioning of funds by the Centre.

Marak also informed that a DPR on PDS was submitted to the Centre.
