SHILLONG: UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh on Saturday said that Assembly Speaker Abu Taher Mondal would take a final decision over the recognition of the Meghalaya People’s Front (MPF) as the official opposition alliance before the end of the ongoing budget session.

“We would meet the Assembly Speaker to persuade him over the matter,” Lyngdoh said.

He said that his party wants the Speaker to take an early decision on recognition to the MPF as the opposition alliance and recognition of UDP leader Dr Donkupar Roy as the Leader of the Opposition.
