State awaits honorarium funds

 SHILLONG: The Community and Rural Development Minister, Prestone Tynsong, said that the department is yet to receive the amount of Rs 70 lakh which was proposed to the Union Ministry of Rural Development for payment of the honorarium to the enumerators and supervisors involved in carrying out the socio-economic census survey in West Garo Hills.

“We are waiting for the Ministry to release the fund,” Tynsong said while replying to a question raised by Independent legislator John Leslee K Sangma during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Tuesday.

Tynsong informed that the expenditure incurred for conducting of the Socio-Economic Census so far is Rs 66.16 lakh.

Earlier, the Tura South legislator, Sangma, had expressed concern over the delay in the payment of the honorarium.
