Shillong gears up for Edufest, the annual mega global education fair organized by Lynchpin

COCOONED IN conventional courses? If not, don’t know where to go?

Relax, because the world of educational options is coming to you this April. All you have to do is be at All Saints Hall (IGP Point) for one of the grandest educational events in the Northeast – Edufest, the Shillong Career Fair.

Slated for April 26-27, this year’s edition of Edufest promises more than before. The two-day event brings together more than 70 reputed colleges – some with international standings – to interact with students for pursuing the right course for the right career. Organized by Lynchpin, India’s leading education fair organizer.

The exhibition has been timed after the examinations so that students can make a choice of course and college. Edufest in its 11 years has is seen by students as the only genuine forum to get quality information from top quality institutions from India and abroad. It will be no different this time too.

The British Council is a co-sponsor of the Edufest this year and is looking forward to coming to Shillong and answering queries of students regarding studying in the UK, scholarships, etc.  “We have been participating in Lynchpin’s exhibitions over the past few years and have found them to be very useful in reaching out to students of the Northeast and making them aware about UK education opportunities. These exhibitions are very professionally organized,” said Indraneel Ghosh of British Council, Kolkata.

And like always, only representatives of the leading institutions will be invited cutting out consultants so that students can confidently discuss their study options and plan accordingly. The institutes include Amity University, NITTE University, Sharda University, Dayanand Sagar, etc., to name a few.

With the advent of the internet, students can access a lot of information on the internet, but at the same time there are many areas where this information is incomplete. Edufest offers students and parents a opportunity for a face to face interaction with university representatives. Students can ask questions regarding, admission cut offs, procedures, fees, accommodation. This face to face interaction is a opportunity which the students and parents look forward to. Under one roof they can interact and get information which if they had to collect themselves would be a huge cost.

The upcoming Edu-fest has already generated interest among students and parents. D Das, a resident of Laban, said: “Edufest has become a great opportunity for students in this part of the world to meet quality institutions offering various courses find out admission requirements and the cost of these courses in India and abroad. I am looking forward to it and hope all my queries will be answered. I am also hopeful of getting my daughter admitted to a good institution. The best thing about Edufest is the huge choice on offer, opportunity to weigh the different options and made an informed choice.”

Nongrim Hills-based C Rynjah said last year’s Edufest helped her daughter get admitted to Dayanand Sagar College right here in Shillong. “This saved us a lot in travel time and money,” he added.
